Turks and Caicos water activities on a budget: the best-value days on the water

The water is the whole show here, and some of the best of it is free: coral, turtles and rays a short swim from Grace Bay’s sand. After that, the best value comes down to the size of your group, from a shared jet ski for two to a whole boat split between a dozen friends.

Best-value water days at a glance

  • Free: snorkeling Bight Reef or Smith’s Reef straight from the beach, with your own mask.
  • For two: a guided jet ski tour, priced per jet ski with two riders on board.
  • For one to four: tours priced per person, like a clear kayak tour or a group snorkel trip, with lower prices for kids.
  • For six or more: a private boat priced for the whole boat, split between everyone.
  • Cost: live prices on every card and in the picker below, taxes included.

Snorkel straight off the sand

Best for: early risers with their own mask and fins

Every beach in Turks and Caicos is public up to the high-tide line, and the barrier reef keeps Grace Bay calm enough to swim straight in. At its western end, Bight Reef starts a short swim from the beach, and turtles, rays and reef fish are regulars. Smith’s Reef, near Turtle Cove, is the other favorite.

Where can you snorkel for free in Providenciales?

Bight Reef and Smith’s Reef are the two classic shore snorkels. Both sit inside a national park, so look but don’t touch. Our beach snorkeling guide has every entry point.

Two of you? Share a jet ski

Best for: couples and thrill-seekers

Our jet ski tours are priced per jet ski, not per person, and each ski carries two riders. Share one and a one-hour run out to the La Famille Express shipwreck is the lowest price for two of anything we offer on the water. Every tour is guided and leaves from Leeward.

What’s the cheapest tour for two in Turks and Caicos?

The one-hour shipwreck run on a shared jet ski. Two-hour tours add the Caicos Cays and Half Moon Bay, still split two ways. Drivers ride solo from 16 on the group tours, and passengers from age 3. More in our jet ski tours guide.

Priced per person: clear kayaks and group trips

Best for: solo travelers, couples and families with young kids

For one to four people, a tour priced per person is the easy buy. The two-hour clear kayak tour glides over the mangroves, where turtles, stingrays and young sharks grow up, and the three-hour version adds Iguana Island. The three-hour group snorkel trip takes in the reef, the shipwreck and Iguana Island, with lunch, rum punch and sodas on board.

Do kids pay less on tours?

Yes. On the clear kayak tours and the group trips, children 3 to 12 pay a lower price. A shuttle from the Grace Bay area is $20 a person, paid on the day.

Six or more? Split a whole boat

Best for: families and friends who want their own boat

Private charters are priced for the whole boat, with a set number of guests included, and that’s where a group starts to win. Our smaller boats include up to six guests in the price, and two of them add a free shuttle from central Grace Bay and Long Bay resorts, which saves a taxi each way.

When is a private boat good value?

The moment you fill it. Split between six or more, a small private boat gets you your own stops, your own pace and nobody else on board. Our guide to what a private charter costs shows how the price is built.

Ten or more? Go big

Best for: reunions, birthdays and big families

The bigger the group, the further a whole-boat price goes. Our Adventure Boat includes nine guests on a half day and twelve on a full day, and the Adventure Boat XL includes fifteen and takes up to seventy. Both have waterslides off the back, sandwiches on the half day and a beach BBQ on the full. The 70ft Sailboat includes twelve and takes up to fifty.

What’s the best boat for a big group on a budget?

One that includes most of your group in its price. Set your party size in the picker below and compare.

Questions guests ask us

What’s the cheapest thing to do on the water in Turks and Caicos?
Snorkeling from the beach at Bight Reef or Smith’s Reef costs nothing if you bring your own mask. On a guided trip, two riders sharing a jet ski on the one-hour shipwreck tour pay the least of anything we offer.
Is a private boat charter ever good value?
Yes, once your group fills it. Charters are priced for the whole boat, so split between six or more, a small private boat gives everyone their own stops and pace for a price shared by all.
Do children pay less?
On the clear kayak tours and the group trips, children 3 to 12 pay a lower price, and some charters have a child rate too. Pick your party on the listing to see the exact price.
Are taxes included in the prices?
Yes. The prices on our cards and in the picker are all-in, with tax and fees included, and so is the price a listing shows once you pick your date and party size.
Is there a free shuttle?
Two of our smaller charter boats include a free shuttle from central Grace Bay and Long Bay resorts. The group trips, clear kayak tours and group jet ski tours offer one from the Grace Bay area for $20 a person, paid on the day.
