The best boats for a group of 10 in Turks and Caicos

Ten is the sweet spot for a private charter: enough people to share the price, and a group that fits most of the fleet. Here are our picks for eight to fifteen guests, for value, comfort, a celebration and kids, with what each costs for your group.

37ft Luxury Boat Charter

A group of ten changes the math of a boat day. Private charters here are priced for the whole boat, so ten people share one price, and on many boats that price already covers six to twelve guests before any per-person extra.

Most of the 23 private charters we book take ten or more, from a 23ft watersports boat to a 70ft schooner. Here’s what we’d book for eight to fifteen guests, depending on what the day is for.

Charters for ten at a glance

  • Best value for ten: the Adventure Boat, whose price includes nine guests on a half day and twelve on a full day.
  • Most comfortable: the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht, with an air-conditioned cabin and two bathrooms with showers.
  • Best for a celebration: the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht, with a premium sound system and a beach BBQ on the full day.
  • Best with kids: the 35ft Catamaran, for up to ten, with shade, a bathroom and a lower rate for children.
  • Best for exactly ten: the 37ft Luxury Boat, one price for up to ten.
  • Best for twelve to fifteen under sail: the 70ft Sailboat, whose price includes twelve.
  • Best for ten with the bar open: the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat, whose price includes ten, with cocktails all day and five bathrooms.

1. Best value: the Adventure Boat

For ten people on a budget, the Adventure Boat is hard to beat. It’s a 35ft catamaran built for groups, with room for 25, a bathroom, WiFi, a waterslide and a big sound system. The half-day price includes nine guests, and the full day includes twelve.

For ten on a half day, only the 26ft Regal, full to its ten-guest limit, costs less, and by $20; here you get room for 25 instead of 10, a waterslide and WiFi, and each guest past the nine included adds $113. Its eight-hour charter is the lowest full-day price for ten we book, with a beach BBQ of chicken, ribs, and peas and rice, plus fresh conch ceviche.

On four hours, lunch is sandwiches and fresh fruit, with local beer and rum punch on every charter. It leaves from Heaving Down Rock Marina in Leeward, 5 to 15 minutes from Grace Bay, with a $20-a-head round-trip shuttle you can add once the booking is confirmed, and on a calm day it can collect you by boat at select Grace Bay resorts. One thing the desk tells every group of ten: boarding, gearing up and the swim back are what eat the clock, so count a half day as two good stops, three if everyone’s quick.

2. Most comfortable: the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht

Comfort for ten comes down to shade, a steady deck and enough bathrooms. The 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht has all three: twin hulls for a steady ride, a shaded flybridge lounge with a grill and a wet bar, an air-conditioned cabin and two bathrooms with showers, which is rare on a day boat.

It takes up to 20, so ten have room to spread out, and the price includes eight. Lunch is glazed ribs, chicken wings, rice, mac and cheese and a green salad on four or six hours, and a BBQ with fresh fish and lobster in season on eight, with champagne, white wine and rum punch.

For a smaller budget, the 35ft Luxury Yacht has an air-conditioned cabin, a bathroom and a shower for up to twelve. If the group would rather play than lounge, the 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat takes 25 and carries a kayak, paddle boards, a floating island and four bathrooms; its price includes six, so ten adds four.

Both leave from Turtle Cove Marina, 10 to 15 minutes from Grace Bay.

3. Best for a celebration: the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht

For a birthday or ten friends who want the music up, the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht is built for it, with plush seating, a premium JL Audio sound system and fresh-water showers. It takes up to 16, and its price includes eight, so a party of ten adds only two guests; the table below prices it for ten next to the other yachts.

Local beer, rum, rum punch and rosé come on every charter, with fruit, a meat and cheese board, chips and dip, and veggies and dip. On eight hours, lunch becomes a beach BBQ: lobster in season, conch, ribs, fish, salads, and steak and veggie kebabs.

For a crowd past sixteen, the 47ft Luxury Yacht takes 18, with prosecco and bottomless rum punch. One thing to tell your ten before they pack: the 43ft doesn’t allow aerosol sunscreen, so bring lotion. More ideas are in birthday, anniversary and bachelorette charters.

Good to know

The 43ft leaves from Blue Haven Marina in Leeward, and you can cancel free up to 72 hours before.

4. Best with kids: the 35ft Catamaran

With children in the group, the 35ft Catamaran is the easy choice for up to ten. Two hulls keep it steady, with shade, a bathroom, bow netting to lie on and a Subwing, and children aged 4 to 14 pay a lower rate, while under-4s ride free.

A half day can take in a reef snorkel, sand dollars on the beach at Fort George Cay and Half Moon Bay, where young lemon sharks are often seen in the shallows. Lunch is fresh fruit and a charcuterie platter.

For more than ten with kids, the 30ft Catamaran takes 13 at the same rates, but it has no bathroom; for a bigger family party that wants showers and shade, the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht takes 20.

Good to know

The 30ft and 35ft Catamarans don’t run on Sundays, and Noah’s Ark is a wade-in stop for them, at the captain’s call on the day. Private charters have no minimum age; the captain has the final say on the day.

5. Exactly ten, one price: the 37ft Luxury Boat

The 37ft Luxury Boat has one price for up to ten, so a group of exactly ten pays no per-person extras. It’s a fast, stable powerboat with a premium sound system and bottomless rum punch, and it runs four, six and eight-hour charters.

Food is fruit, cookies, a signature dip and a sandwich or wrap. On six hours or more, a powerboat like this one can add cliff jumping at Split Rock.

Good to know

A bathroom isn’t standard on the 37ft, so ask us when you book if it matters. It leaves from Blue Haven Marina in Leeward.

6. Twelve to fifteen: the 70ft Sailboat and the bigger boats

Past ten, the 70ft Sailboat comes into its own. Its price includes twelve guests, it takes up to 50, and local beer, rum punch, rosé and snacks are included. She was built by hand in 1992 as a trading rum runner, and on the day you can cut the engines and sail.

For fifteen, the Adventure Boat XL’s price includes fifteen with room for 70 and the same beach BBQ on eight hours, the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat includes ten and takes 20 with an open bar, and the 43ft, 47ft and 44ft yachts take 16, 18 and 20 in more comfort. Beyond twenty, see boats for large groups.

So, which boat for ten?

On a budget: the Adventure Boat, on a half day or a full day.

In comfort: the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht, or the 35ft Luxury Yacht for less.

For a party: the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht, or the 70ft Sailboat under sail.

With kids: the 35ft Catamaran.

Under sail with the bar open: the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat, whose price includes ten.

Before you book for ten

  • Hours: a four-hour charter is two or three stops and a six-hour one four or five; with ten aboard, plan on the lower number.
  • Mixed ages: on the 30ft, 35ft and 41ft catamarans, children aged 4 to 14 pay a child rate and under-4s ride free; on every other boat an extra guest pays the adult rate at any age.
  • Bathrooms: for ten over a full day, choose a boat with one. The 37ft Luxury Boat, the 28ft Luxury Boat, the 30ft Catamaran and the Luxury Watersports Charter don’t have one.
  • Getting there: the Leeward marinas are 5 to 15 minutes from Grace Bay and Turtle Cove 10 to 15. The 26ft Regal runs a free shuttle for central Grace Bay and Long Bay resorts, the Adventure Boats a $20-a-head round trip from Grace Bay, and several yachts can collect you by boat from a beach or villa for a fee that depends on where you are.
  • Food: each listing shows its own menu, and the 65ft plans its menu with you after booking. Tell us about allergies when you book so the crew can plan around them.
  • Sundays: the 30ft, 35ft and 41ft catamarans don’t run.

Planning the day for ten

Ten people is one taxi van: the vans here seat about 9 to 15 and charge per person, the first two at the full fare and the rest at half, so agree the total for all ten before you set off. Pick one organizer to book, pay the deposit on one card and collect everyone’s share first; the balance is settled with the boat’s charter management, usually with the waiver signed at the same time. Send the group the marina, the dock time and the packing list the night before: swimsuits on, a towel each, reef-safe lotion, hats.

Mixed ages and abilities

Ten people rarely swim equally well. Life jackets come on every charter in every size, the 70ft Sailboat’s snorkel kit includes flotation belts, and the sandbars are wading depth, shallowest at low tide, so the non-swimmers stand in warm, clear water while the strong swimmers take the reef. For grandparents, choose shade, a bathroom and a steady deck: the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht and the 35ft Luxury Yacht have air-conditioned cabins. For teenagers, the Adventure Boat’s waterslide, the Subwing towed behind the catamarans, or the cliff jumping a six-hour powerboat day can add. A private charter has no minimum age, with the captain’s say on the day.

The per-person math

Divide the table by ten and the half day looks like this: about $215 each on the 26ft Regal, about $217 on the Adventure Boat, about $263 on the 37ft Luxury Boat, about $274 on the 70ft Sailboat, about $371 on the 35ft Luxury Yacht, about $557 on the 43ft and $603 on the 44ft catamaran. Children change it on the catamarans: six adults and four children aged 4 to 14 on the 35ft Catamaran come to about $2,304 instead of $2,398. For a full day, the Adventure Boat’s eight hours include twelve guests for $3,311, about $331 each for ten with the beach BBQ and conch ceviche, which is the best-value long day for a group this size.

For most groups of ten, book the Adventure Boat’s four hours, $2,167 all-in for ten with sandwiches, fresh fruit, local beer and rum punch, a waterslide and room for 25; for comfort, the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht at $6,029, with a cooked lunch, champagne and two bathrooms with showers. Whichever boat it is, the price on its listing includes taxes, a deposit secures it, you can cancel free inside the window on its listing, 24 to 72 hours before depending on the boat, and a request is confirmed within a few hours, nearly always the same day.

Questions guests ask us

What’s the best boat for 10 people in Turks and Caicos?
For value, the Adventure Boat, whose price includes nine on a half day and twelve on a full day. For comfort, the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht. For a party, the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht. With kids, the 35ft Catamaran.
How much does a boat charter for 10 people cost?
It depends on the boat and the length. The table above shows live, all-in prices for ten on a half day, from the 26ft Regal up to the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht.
Can ten people fit on the 26ft Regal?
Yes, ten is its limit, and its four-hour price includes six. For ten adults on a long day, a boat with more deck, such as the 70ft Sailboat, gives everyone room to move.
Do we need two boats for 15 people?
No. The Adventure Boat takes 25, the 70ft Sailboat 50 and the Adventure Boat XL 70, the 43ft, 47ft, 44ft and 62ft yachts take 16 to 20, and the 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat takes 25.
Is the price per person?
No, it’s for the whole boat. Each boat includes a set number of guests, and anyone above that is added per person, up to the boat’s capacity.
Do children pay full price on a boat for ten?
On the 30ft, 35ft and 41ft catamarans, children aged 4 to 14 pay a lower child rate and under-4s ride free. On the rest of the fleet, every guest above the number the price includes pays the same adult rate, whatever their age.
How far ahead should a group of ten book a boat?
Guests book a median 11 days ahead, and a request is confirmed within a few hours, nearly always the same day. In the December to April high season, and over Christmas and New Year especially, book further out so the boat you want is still free.
What does a boat for ten cost per person?
On a four-hour charter, from about $215 to $275 each on the 26ft Regal, the Adventure Boat, the 37ft Luxury Boat and the 70ft Sailboat, about $371 on the 35ft Luxury Yacht and $550 to $600 on the 43ft and 44ft yachts, taxes included. The price is for the whole boat, so every extra friend lowers everyone’s share, most of all up to the number of guests the price already includes.
