62ft Lux Yacht Charter

Some birthdays deserve more than a dinner reservation. Out on the water in Turks and Caicos, the whole group is together, the music is yours, the champagne is cold and the backdrop is some of the brightest water in the Caribbean. It’s why so many birthdays, anniversaries and bachelorettes here end up on a boat.

We book 23 private charters here, from a 22ft sport boat for four to a schooner for 50. The right one depends less on budget than on the occasion: a birthday for twelve, a bachelorette, a thirtieth anniversary and a 40-person company day each want a different boat, and the differences are specific, so here they are.

Celebration charters at a glance

  • Best for a milestone: the 62ft Lux Yacht, with a bottle of champagne for a toast and a dedicated bartender.
  • Best for a party: the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht, with a premium JL Audio sound system.
  • Best for a bachelorette: the Adventure Boat, for up to 25, with a waterslide and a big sound system, or the 47ft Luxury Yacht, with prosecco and bottomless rum punch.
  • Best for a big birthday: the 70ft Sailboat, for up to 50.
  • Best for a couple: the 35ft Luxury Yacht, with champagne and an air-conditioned cabin.

For a birthday with family or a small group of friends, the 35ft Luxury Yacht is the easy yes: up to 12 guests, champagne, white wine, tequila and rum punch on board, lunch on every option, and an air-conditioned cabin to escape the sun.

Every charter welcomes your own food and drinks, so the cake can come too; if you’d like balloons, flowers or a cake waiting on board, say so when you book and we’ll check with the boat what it can set up and what it costs, and keep it a surprise if it’s meant to be one. For a family birthday with real food on a smaller budget, the 29ft Sports Cruiser and the 30ft Luxury Boat serve BBQ chicken and ribs, kebabs and mac and cheese on every option, from $2,341 all-in for six. For a crowd, skip down to the big boats.

Decorations, cake and surprises

Decorate for wind. The trade wind blows across the deck all day, and anything loose ends up in the water and, sooner or later, on a reef, so skip the confetti, the glitter and the loose balloons and bring a banner that ties on, a few weighted balloons, flowers, or matching hats and sashes, which are the decorations that look best in photos anyway. For the cake, firm beats fluffy: whipped cream and soft buttercream slump within minutes in the sun, so keep it in the cooler until the toast and bring a knife, plates, napkins and a long lighter, because the breeze wins against a match. Plastic or cans rather than glass for the champagne, too; on the 65ft and the 70ft, glass isn’t allowed at all.

For a surprise, the less the guest of honor sees, the better: book under someone else’s name, tell us it’s a surprise, and every detail runs through us rather than through them.

2. Anniversaries and milestones

For the big ones, the bigger yachts. The 62ft Lux Yacht opens with a bottle of champagne for a toast, then a dedicated bartender pours from a full premium bar all day, and lunch is chosen in advance from a full menu: coconut shrimp, grilled mahi-mahi and, in season, grilled or curried lobster.

The 51ft Lux Yacht has the same menu, with champagne and white wine, for up to 14. The 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht serves champagne too, with an air-conditioned cabin and room for 20, and the new 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat opens with a bottle of champagne for a toast, with a bartender, a full menu and room for 25.

For two, or a handful of you, the quiet option is under sail: the 41ft Sailing Catamaran is $2,455 all-in for up to four on its five-hour charter, with a dark and stormy mixed on board, bow netting to lie on and, when the wind allows, no engine noise over the toast.

Good to know

On the 51ft and 62ft Lux Yachts and the 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat, the menu is sent in before the day, so you can plan the meal around the occasion.

For a group of friends, it’s about the music, the drinks and the swim stops. The 47ft Luxury Yacht takes up to 18, with prosecco and bottomless rum punch; the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht takes 16, with a premium JL Audio sound system and rosé.

For a bigger bachelorette, the Adventure Boat is built for it: up to 25, a waterslide, WiFi, a big sound system, rum punch and local beer, and a beach BBQ on the full day. For the same size group in more style, the 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat takes 25, with a bartender and a sun pad up top.

How a bachelorette day runs

Most groups take the afternoon half day, which leaves between 1 and 2 pm and has you back at the dock around 5:30 or 6 pm, showered and at dinner by eight; none of these boats is sold as a sunset cruise, so for the lowest light on the water, book the afternoon slot and ask the captain to make the last stop the long one. Four hours fits two or three stops: a snorkel while everyone’s still fresh, a sandbar for the photos, and Noah’s Ark, the floating bar, or a quiet cay if you’d rather have the beach to yourselves. Six hours adds cliff jumping on the two yachts; eight hours on the 43ft adds a beach BBQ with conch ceviche and lobster in season.

Bring the playlist (every boat has Bluetooth), a dry bag for twenty phones, towels, and reef-safe sunscreen that isn’t an aerosol, which the 43ft doesn’t allow. The music is yours all day; at Little Water Cay, where the iguanas live, the National Trust asks for quiet.

Photos, light and music

The light does most of the work here. Midday sun turns the water its most electric turquoise, which is the moment for the sandbar group photo, but it flattens faces; the hour before sunset is kinder to people. Sunset runs from about 5:10 pm in December to about 7:35 pm at the end of June, so in winter an afternoon half day ends in golden light, and in summer you’re back well before it. A waterproof pouch for each phone, one dry bag for the lot, and one friend who agrees not to be in every picture beat any gear. If you’re bringing a drone, check the current rules before you fly, especially near the airport, and ask the captain before launching from the boat.

Music etiquette is simple: loud is fine underway and at a party stop like Noah’s Ark, and at a quiet anchorage with a family on the next boat or the beach, the volume comes down. Download the playlist before you leave the villa, and give one person the job of running it.

4. Big parties and company days

On deck aboard the 70ft Sailboat.70ft Sailboat Charter

For 30, 40 or 50 guests, the 70ft Sailboat is the classic: a schooner built by hand in 1992 as a trading rum runner, sailed by a local crew of three, with local beer, rum punch, rosé and snacks from the moment you step aboard.

Her four-hour is $2,740 all-in for twelve guests and $137 a head after that; nothing in glass comes aboard, so the champagne gets decanted, and on the five and six-hour charters you can add a gourmet picnic lunch at checkout.

For even more, the Adventure Boat XL takes up to 70 on two decks with two waterslides, at $4,110 all-in for fifteen on the four-hour and $103 a head after that. For a company day where the point is the bar rather than the slide, the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat takes 20 under sail with an open bar and food served all day, from $7,536 all-in for ten.

Getting a big group to the dock

The hardest part of a big party is the first ten minutes. Taxis here are usually priced per person rather than per car, so twenty people in five taxis costs more than you’d guess; agree the fare before anyone gets in, or use the transport the listing offers: the Adventure Boat and the XL run a $20-a-head round trip from Grace Bay and can collect you by boat from the beach at select Grace Bay resorts, conditions permitting. Name one organizer to send us the final headcount, any allergies and the cake plan in a single message, and get everyone to the dock 15 minutes early, because twenty people board more slowly than a family of four.

Planning the day

  • Book early. Each boat takes one group at a time, and celebration dates are often fixed.
  • Plan the menu on the yachts that cook to order (the 51ft, the 62ft and the powercat), where it's chosen before the day.
  • Bring the cake, the playlist and anything else you’d like. Every charter welcomes your own food and drinks; on the 70ft Sailboat and the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat, nothing in glass.
  • Go for longer than you think. A full day leaves time for a toast, a swim and lunch without watching the clock.

For most celebrations, three bookings cover it. A birthday for ten: the 35ft Luxury Yacht’s four hours, $3,711 all-in for ten, with lunch, champagne and an air-conditioned cabin. A milestone: the 62ft’s four hours, $6,166 all-in for six, with a bottle of champagne for the toast, a dedicated bartender and a lunch you choose in advance. A bachelorette of twenty: the Adventure Boat’s four hours, $2,054 all-in for nine and $113 a head after that, with a waterslide, a big sound system, rum punch and local beer. Most guests book about eleven days out, but a birthday doesn’t move, so book the boat when you book the flights: the price shown includes taxes, a deposit secures the date, each listing shows its free-cancellation window, from 24 to 72 hours before depending on the boat, and a request is confirmed within a few hours, nearly all within the day.

Questions guests ask us

What’s the best boat for a birthday in Turks and Caicos?
The best birthday boat in Turks and Caicos depends on the headcount: for a small group, the 35ft Luxury Yacht, with champagne and an air-conditioned cabin; for a party of friends, the 43ft or 47ft; for 25, the Adventure Boat; for up to 50, the 70ft Sailboat.
Can we bring a cake and our own drinks?
Yes. Every charter welcomes your own food and drinks on top of what’s included, cake and champagne among them; on the 70ft Sailboat and the 65ft Ultra Lux Sailing Cat, decant anything in glass before you board.
Which boats include champagne?
Champagne comes on board the 35ft Luxury Yacht, the 51ft and 62ft Lux Yachts, the 44ft Luxury Catamaran Yacht and the 51ft Ultra Lux Powercat; the 47ft Luxury Yacht serves prosecco, and the 43ft rosé.
What’s the biggest boat for a party?
The Adventure Boat XL takes up to 70 guests, and the 70ft Sailboat up to 50.
Can the boat be decorated for a birthday or bachelorette?
Usually, yes. Tell us what you have in mind when you book, balloons, flowers, a cake, a proposal, and we check with the boat what it can set up and at what cost; if it’s a surprise, every detail is coordinated through us rather than with the guest of honor.
Is a celebration charter a sunset cruise?
No. These are day charters: a four-hour afternoon slot leaves between 1 and 2 pm and is back at the dock around 5:30 or 6 pm, and for the lowest light on the water that afternoon slot is the one to book.
How much does a bachelorette boat cost in Turks and Caicos?
It depends on the boat and the headcount: the Adventure Boat is $2,054 all-in for nine guests and $113 a head after that, the 47ft Luxury Yacht $4,396 for six and $274 a head, and the 43ft Ultra Luxury Yacht $5,024 for eight and $274 a head, all for four hours with taxes included.
Can we bring balloons or confetti on a celebration charter?
Weighted balloons, tie-on banners, flowers and sashes, yes; confetti, glitter and loose balloons, please don’t, because the wind takes them straight into the sea. Tell us what you have in mind when you book and we check with the boat what it can set up and at what cost.
