Age limits for boat charters, jet skis, kayaks and tours in Turks and Caicos

Best for: babies, toddlers and grandparents

There’s no minimum age on any private charter we book, from the smallest boat to the biggest. Babies, toddlers and grandparents can all come along, and life jackets and snorkel gear come on every boat in every size, children’s included. On the day, the captain has the final say on any activity, from the Subwing to a swim stop.

Is there a minimum age for a boat charter in Turks and Caicos?

No. Children of any age can come on a private charter. With little ones, pick a boat with plenty of shade and keep it to about four hours. Our family boat charter guide compares the boats.

Best for: kids who want speed and teens who want the handlebars

On our group jet ski tours, anyone 16 or older can drive solo. Younger riders can still take the handlebars with a guardian seated behind them, at the guardian’s discretion, and passengers can be as young as 3, riding with someone 16 or older. Each ski carries two riders, up to about 400 pounds together.

How old do you have to be to drive a jet ski in Turks and Caicos?

Sixteen to drive solo on the group tours. The private custom tours set their own rule: 17 to drive solo, or 15 with an adult passenger aboard. Our jet ski tour guide has every route.

Best for: young animal lovers and their parents

Both clear kayak tours take paddlers from age 3, with a child price up to age 12. A single kayak carries up to 250 pounds and a double up to 400, so a parent and a young child can share one. The two-hour tour stays in the mangroves, the three-hour tour adds Iguana Island, and a guide and the safety equipment come with both.

Can a 3-year-old go on a clear kayak tour?

Yes. Three is the minimum age, and the youngest paddlers share a double kayak with a parent, looking down through the hull for turtles and rays. Our clear kayak guide has the routes.

Best for: families who want a guided day out

The three group boat tours, the Snorkel, Shipwreck & Iguana tour, the Snuba tour and the Seaside Scavenger Quest, all take guests from age 3, with a child price up to age 12. Snorkel gear comes with every one, and the Snuba tour lets you breathe underwater from a raft at the surface with no certification.

What age can kids do Snuba in Turks and Caicos?

The tour takes ages 3 and up, and Snuba’s own standard asks divers to be 8 or older, with basic swimming and comfort in the water. Tell us your child’s age when you book and we’ll check with the crew.

Best for: a day on land with the grown-ups at the wheel

To drive an ATV or a UTV you must be 18 or older and hold a valid driver’s license. Helmets, goggles and a guide come with every tour, along with a shuttle from Grace Bay and Lower Bight. The two-seat and four-seat UTVs let a parent drive with family riding along.

How old do you have to be to drive an ATV in Turks and Caicos?

Eighteen, with a valid driver’s license that you bring on the day. The listings don’t set an age for passengers, so if you’re bringing children, tell us their ages when you book.
