- Life jackets: on every boat and tour we offer, in every size, children’s included.
- Can non-swimmers come? Yes. A life jacket keeps you floating, and your captain picks calm, shallow stops.

- Best for: families, first-timers and anyone a little nervous on the water.
Meet your captain
Best for: first-timers and families

Every private charter we offer comes with a licensed captain, and nearly every one with a crew member too. Here, any boat carrying paying guests is a commercial vessel: its captain holds a government Boatmaster license, and the boat is surveyed, certified and inspected every year. Your captain knows the reefs, the sandbars and the tides, and plans each stop around the conditions on the day.
Do you need a boating license to charter a boat in Turks and Caicos?
No. Every charter here comes with its captain, so you never drive. Nobody needs a license, a course or any experience on the water: you just step aboard, and your captain and crew take care of the anchor, the ladder and the route.

Life jackets in every size
Best for: little ones and non-swimmers

Life jackets come on every charter, jet ski tour, kayak tour and group excursion we offer, in every size, children’s included. Snorkel gear comes on the charters and the group boat tours, in every size too. Children of any age can come on a private charter, and the captain has the final say on activities on the day.
Can non-swimmers go on a boat tour in Turks and Caicos?
Yes. A life jacket lets a weaker swimmer float at the surface and still see the reef, and the sandbars are shallow enough to stand. Tell your captain at the start, and on the group snorkel and Snuba tours tell us before you book, so we can check with the crew. Our non-swimmers guide has more.

Snorkel like a pro
Best for: first-time snorkelers

Your captain chooses each snorkel stop for the day’s conditions, so following that call means you’re already doing it right. Stay close to your group and the boat, and swim back to the ladder when you’re tired or cold. Float flat with your fins up over the reef: coral is a living animal, and a kick or a footstep breaks it.
Is it safe to snorkel in Turks and Caicos?
With a captain choosing the spot, yes. Most stops are shallow and sheltered, the water is famously clear, and a life jacket makes it easy for anyone who would rather float and look.

Jet skis, kayaks and ATVs, guided all the way
Best for: adventurers and teens

Every jet ski tour we offer is guided, with life vests, the safety gear and a briefing before you ride. You can drive a jet ski on your own from 16, and younger riders ride with someone 16 or older. The clear kayak tours come with all the safety equipment and an expert local guide, and on the ATV tours helmets and goggles are provided.
How old do you have to be to drive a jet ski or an ATV?
Sixteen to drive a jet ski on your own, with younger riders aboard with someone 16 or older. ATV drivers must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license. Our age limits guide covers every activity.

The weather call
Best for: planners who like a backup
Turks and Caicos has some of the calmest, most protected water in the Caribbean, and on a breezy day your captain plans around the wind: the sheltered side of the cays, a calm sandbar, a reef only where the water allows.
Who decides if it’s safe to go out?
Your captain or our management team, for your date. If they consider the weather unsafe or too rough, you can reschedule for another day or receive a full refund, whatever your booking’s cancellation window says. Our hurricane season guide covers summer and fall.
Five habits for an easy day on the water
- Tell your captain about non-swimmers, seasickness or anything else at the start.
- Stay with your group in the water, and come back to the ladder when you’re tired.
- Fins up, body flat over the reef, so the coral stays as bright as you found it.
- Pack reef-safe sunscreen and a hat, and bring your own towel.
- Drink water. Every boat carries bottled water.
Make a day of it from Provo
There are plenty of ways onto the water, each with a captain or a guide: a private boat charter, a jet ski tour, a group excursion, a clear kayak tour or an ATV tour. If anyone in your group worries about waves, read how calm the water really is, and for picking a boat, see how to choose a boat charter. For a boat of your own, pick it below.
